Yacht chartering is something that most people do not think they can afford, but you would be hugely surprised to know that there are a lot of different packages that you can buy that are exceptionally priced making Yacht chartering something for everyone. So what exactly is Yacht chartering? Yacht chartering is where you rent (charter) a Yacht for a certain amount of time which during you will visit a range of places depending on where you are in the World. Most people charter a Yacht during a vacation but they can also be hired for a corporate event. So when it comes to boats there are two main different types of chartering:
- Bareboat: Bareboat is when you hire a Yacht without a crew which means that you will be skippering it yourself or with your buddies. The majority of companies that offer a Bareboat service will insist that you take lessons with them before they allow you out onto their expensive Yacht and drive away. You will be taught a wide range of boating skills so that you will be able to skipper it yourself without putting yourself in any danger. These companies also offer in some circumstances a skipper which is when the charter comes with a skipper but no other crew so that you are safe and comfortable during your wonderful Yacht charter.
- Crewed: A Crewed charter is the most common type of charter that is offered. It means that the Yacht will come with a full crew which will include a skipper, a captain, a chef, engineers, mates, stewards/stewardesses, deckhands, scuba dive masters etc. Sometimes the captain and the chef are a husband and wife team who are employed by the owners to work on the boat on a permanent basis. Depending on the size of the boat will depend on the size of its crew.
